The Competitive D&D Tournament
You chose your path on the way in.
The Fold triggers the moment you take the Relic.
Every door you skipped becomes the only way home.
Multiple tables. One room. Everyone playing at the same time — and everyone playing the same dungeon. This is D&D the way you've never played it before.
Official competitive D&D ran at Gen Con from 1977 to 2013 — the same dungeon, multiple tables, one winning team. It was discontinued to push a cooperative program. Since then, it's survived only at scattered conventions most players never get to attend. It has never had a permanent local home.
"Back in the day the DM would begin the adventure by dropping players in front of the dungeon... because a lot of adventures began as convention tournament modules. Competitive D&D — which I have done — is a lot of fun."
— Matthew Colville, Running the GameThe Shifting Vault is Sarasota's answer. Your home game is where your story lives. This is where you find out what you're capable of when the stakes are real, the party is random, and the clock is running.

The Vault shifts each event — same structure, different dungeon. Every team faces the same choices. The Fold makes sure your choices find you.
The Vault itself speaks. Rules are delivered in character by the Keeper. Every adventurer learns what they're walking into — and what's at stake.
Phase 1: your team chooses Room A or Room B at every junction. Deliberate. Strategic. The choices feel safe. Phase 2: the moment you take the Relic, the vault folds. Every room you skipped becomes your only exit. The Relic degrades in value every turn. You built this dungeon. Now survive it.
Every team draws their characters at the door. No min-maxing. No optimized builds. Just the hand you're dealt and the choices you make with it.
Points for depth, objectives, puzzles, and party survival. One DM per table, fully briefed. No ambiguity. Your Fold Score is what the Relic was worth when you finally escaped — if you escaped.
A party is forming. Will yours be among them?
